Couples Resorts Staff Spotlight: Michell Brown
Wednesday, Jun 4, 2014
It’s not just the lively music, mouth-watering food, tropical climate, amazing sunsets or sandy beaches that keep visitors returning to the tropical Caribbean Island of Jamaica; rather some say it’s the people. Couples Resorts owns and operates four all-inclusive resorts which provides employment for more than 1,600 staff. One such team member is Michell Brown, who has been a housekeeper at Couples Swept Away for the past 12 years.
Originally from Kingston, Michell currently resides in Jericho, Hanover with her partner of twelve years. A woman of strong faith, she enjoys listening to music (especially gospel), loves her church, and has a deep affection for kids. Michell’s favourite Jamaican dish is baked or jerked chicken with roast breadfruit.
Michell is not only passionate and dedicated to her job, but also embraces the opportunity to meet new people whilst ensuring that the environment they are retreating to is exceptionally maintained with standards second-to-none. Michell senses a feeling of fulfilment when she treats a guest like family and they tell her how much they appreciate her. She notes, “I know then I have given my best” when a guest requests for her on their next stay. Speaking of the bond she feels with our guests and other team members, “I appreciate them as they help me to stay focused and inspired…especially ‘Ms Mac’ (Executive Housekeeper) who has been like a mother to me,” Michelle also states.
Michell was recently awarded employee of the month for her hard work and dedication to the job. She describes the feeling as “excellent” and was overwhelmed from the accolades of the General Manager Karen Lanigan at the Repeaters dinner she was invited to for winning. Michell was thankful for being able to attend with her other half by her side. She continues to be a reflection of what our guests can expect from the moment they arrive. Be sure to look out for her on your next visit to our unique, one-of-a kind, all-inclusive resort.
