On Monday 5th August 2013, people in Barbados won’t have a case of the Monday blues. It’s time for Grand Kadooment Day. Grand Kadooment is the festive finale of the Crop Over, the island’s biggest festival that lasts for five weeks, where a masquerade parade closes the season. The festival is held in Bridgetown and it’s considered one of the biggest and most colourful events in the whole of the Caribbean celebratory calendar.

The mountains have a range spanning 45km long and the highest of the highlights, the Blue Mountain Peak reaches 2256m above sea level. Covered in fern forests, surrounded by an azure haze and filled with wildlife many people hike through the mountains to witness the most glorious of Caribbean nature.

Dive into some deep sea delicacies at the Little Ochi Seafood Festival Little Ochi Seafood Festival is a celebration of Jamaican seafood, cooked in a rich variety of culinary styles. It’s held on the beachfront in the small community of Alligator Pond in Little Ochi, on the south coast of Jamaica and is one of the biggest seafood festivals in the Caribbean. The annual event attracts around 6000 people to feast on good food and enjoy the good vibes along with a lot of good people.

Celebrations were in full swing earlier this month for our cookery team at Couples Resorts. It was time for one of Jamaica’s most anticipated food events in the Caribbean calendar – the Jamaica Observer’s Food Awards. Our Corporate Executive Chef, Stefan Spath was honoured as a Master Chef at the festival. Hosted on the grounds of Devon house in Kingston, the annual festival (in it’s 15th year) recognised the excellence in food creation, service and event décor.
